Welcome to the homepage of the Brookline School Committee (BSC). The BSC consists of 9 members who are elected town-wide to three-year terms of service. Our regular meetings are generally held every other Thursday night during the school year, at 6:00 p.m. on the 5th floor of Town Hall, and broadcast/streamed live by Brookline Interactive Group. For a full list of our upcoming meetings, please click here. To review our meeting materials, please click here.
The main responsibilities of the BSC, as per state statute, are to evaluate the superintendent, review and approve budgets for public education in the district, and to establish educational goals and policies for the schools in the district. DESE's Advisory on School Governance provides helpful information about school management and leadership.
To fulfill and support these functions, BSC members serve on a variety of subcommittees and act as liaisons to many local organizations. Information about all of these can be found by using the tabs on the left.
